A Rosa Lambergh married John Harrris in St Georges Cathedral on Jan 25 1847. Both were of “full age” and John’s profession given as storeman of Cape Town. Witnesses were John Gilowy, Clara Lambergh (sic) and William Vawser. William Vawser was a long time clerk of St George’s cathedral, and John Gilowy presumably the son of Frederick Lodewyk Gilowy, a confectioner, then biscuit baker, and finally grocer on St John’s St from 1820-1854,.

Maureen Rall confirms but spelling is Lombergh. Both Rosa and John signed by mark; also Clara Lombergh. 1 1

HYPOTHESIS

This is the only Lambergh in the Ancestry24 database, so I conclude it is an alternate spelling of Lomberg, given that both Rosa and Clara are spelled this way. It is unclear how Rosa Lomberg fits in with the other Cape Lombergs, but given the association of Clara Lomberg as witness, and the very close association that formed between Lombergs and Harrises after this wedding, I assume that the most probable thesis is that Rosa Lomberg was a very late child of Clara Lomberg and presumably Martigny Lomberg if he was still alive in 1847.^{[6][7][8][9][10]}
