Biography

Henry was born Georg Henrich Lonas in Shenandoah County, Va. His god parents were Georg Lohnes and Barbara (Helsley).

Spouse: Bethany Whiteman, married December 23, 1819[1]

The last child is listed as Ellen C. on the first census and Cal on the second.

Date of birth are based on the census and are only an estimation at this time. 1

Henry was a soldier in the War of 1812, along with his brother Jacob. According to records in the State Archives, the Lonas boys (gentlemen), were in a Company of Militia Infantry, Commanded by Captain John Chiles, of the Regiment of East Tennessee Militia, in the Command of Col. Samuel Wear, in the service of the United States, from the 25th of September 1813 to the first (l) day of January, 1814 ---three months and five days. 1
