Biography

Lillie Mae Loney was born 8 May 1883[1][2] in Ohio County, Kentucky, United States. She was the daughter of John Calvin Loney[2] and Sarah Madeline Wakeland.[3][4] Her mother died when she was about seven years old.

On 7 October 1900 in Ohio County, Kentucky, she married Robert D. Maddox.[3] The marriage record shows that Robert was born in Kansas, although other records show his birthplace as Kentucky. Lillie and Robert were the parents of two daughters, Irene and Beatrice Maddox. In 1907, he died in an accident in a coal mine.

Lillie Maddox married James Thomas Wilkey on 10 July 1909 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. It was the second marriage for both parties.[4] They were the parents of the following children:

In the 1910 census, Lillie Wilkey was recorded in North Boggess, Muhlenberg, Kentucky with her husband James Wilkey and her two daughters, Irene and Beatrice Maddox. It also shows that, she was the mother of three children, two living.[7] In the 1920 census, the couple were recorded living in Terre Haute, Vigo, Indiana, with their five children.[5] The 1930 census shows the couple and five of their children living in District 3, Muhlenberg, Kentucky.[6] Sometime after 1940, they returned to Terre Haute, Vigo, Indian.

Lillie Mae (Loney) Wilkey, age 93, died 30 Jan 1977 of a cerebral vascular thrombosis, at the Canterbury Nursing Home in Terra Haute, Vigo, Indiana and was buried at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terra Haute.[1][2][8]
