Biography

Richard Long is one of twins.

Richard was born on 17 January 1879 in Churchtown, Lancaster, PA, USA. He was the son of John Haines Long and Jane (Witmer) Long.^[1]

Richard married on 19 November 1863 in Reading, Berks, Pennsylvania, USA. The couple had 10 children: Edwin Haines Long, Anna Jeanetta Long, Mary Alice Long, Ralph Ethelbert Long, Wilfred Ringwald Long, James Kenneth Long, @I26@, Edith Whitmer Long, John Howard Long and Richard Hickman Long.^[2]

In the 1880 census Richard (age about 1) was living in Churchtown, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA. Marital status: Single; Relation to Head of House: Son.^[1]

In the 1900 census Richard (age 21) was living in Matoaca, Chesterfield, Virginia, USA. Relation to Head of House: Son.^[3]

When Richard was 23 he married Lona Dell Phillips on 11 August 1902 in Petersburg, Virginia. The couple had 7 children: Ida Mae Long, Welton Ellsworth Long, Thomas Milford Long, Charles Alton Long, Mildred E Long, Merton H Long and John Elbert Long.^[4]

Between 1917 and 1918 Richard (age about 37) was living in Chesterfield, Virginia.^[5]

Richard died at the age of 39 on 6 October 1918 in Chester, Virginia, USA.^[6][7]
