Irvin was born in 1819. His Indian name was Ter-ra-tu-en. He was the son of Alexander Long and Kitty Zane. He married Therese Tallcharles, the widow of Tall Charles, on 26 April 1860.[1]
He served as Principal Chief of the Wyandotte Nation from 1876-1880 and 1882-1883. He was also chairman of an Intertribal Council that consisted of the Wyandottes, Senecas, Ottawas, Shawnees, Peorias, and Quapaws.[2]
He passed away in 1889. He is buried at Bland Cemetery in Kansas City, Kansas. [3]
