His military record is in Hessie Hayden Mobley's application to D.A.R. Agnes (Dickson) Long had 3 children by her former husband James Dickson: Mary Moore Dickson Long, William Williamson Dickson and Bennett Smith Dickson. Mary Dickson Long married Richard's son Benjamin Alexander Long. 
He passed away in 1848.
