Biography

Joseph S Long was born in 1866 in Dagsboro Hd., Sussex Co., Delaware. USA, last child of William Long and Hester Lewes. [1]

Joseph's father probably died before 1880 as he was not listed in the census that year; his mother was keeping house with his 24 yr old brother George listed as head of house, farmer with his brother Albert, age 17 and Joseph, age 14 also listed as farming. [2]

In 1900 he and his brother Albert are boarders and logging in Northwest Fork Hundred, Sussex Co.,Delaware. In 1910 they migrate to North Carolina, are there in 1920, 1930, 1940. His brother Albert died in Oct of 1940 in North Carolina.
