Daniel was born in Tisbury, Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts on June 7, 1733. He was the son of Thomas and Mercy (Lewis) Look.
About 1763, Daniel married Annie Butler also from Tisbury and where they settled and began their family. Sometime around 1770 Daniel and Annie moved their family to Addison, Washington, Maine. Sources report twelve children sometimes with slightly different birth dates as follows: Damaris b. 1764, George b. 1766, Moses b. 1768, Mary b. 1770, Anna E. b. 1770, Mercy b. 1772, Eunice b. 1774, Lois Butler b. 1778, Jane b. 1780, Hannah b. 1782, Daniel b. 1782, and Mary b. 1784.
About one year after his wife Annie died, Daniel passed away in Addison in April 1825.
I am a direct descendant of Daniel (4th gr-granddaughter Knight-16625), and the family has always said that Daniel was "sent" to Addison by his father, who was concerned about Daniel's drinking and gambling; he thought it might straighten him out to send him to an unsettled frontier. However he persuaded him (or banished him), Daniel did come to Addison, without the support of brothers or other relatives who often accompanied families making such a move. I'm pretty sure there was drinking and gambling going on here, as well, but if it was a continuing problem for Daniel, it's not mentioned by family.
Daniel is said in some genealogies to have fought in the Revolutionary War during 1777 in defense of Machias, although I find no military records online on this--he does have a Revolutionary War Veteran marker on his grave, but he doesn't seem to have applied for a pension.
