Biography

Wilfred was born in 1892, though he stated 1890 in his WWI military enlistment.[1]

Biographical Notes

  • Pre-WW1 - Labourer at Cambridge who had served in the Territorial Force for 3 years
  • E Company 14th Reinforcements Auckland Infantry Regiment
  • Served on the Western Front 1916-1918
  • Awarded the Military Medal for acts of gallantry in the field 15 Oct 1917
  • Wounded (not severely) in the field 15 May 1918
  • Promoted to Sargeant
  • Awarded British War Medal, Victory Medal and Military Medal[2]

He passed away in 1953[5] and is buried at the Hamilton East Cemetery, Hamilton.[6] There are plaques for two children Edward Leslie Looker (10/9/1921-8/4/2003) and Margaret Gloria Looker (29/2/1920-6/3/1997) on his grave.
