Private John Loomis served with 3rd Battalion, Col. Roger Enos, Wooster's Brigade, Connecticut State Troops during the American Revolution.

John married twice. First, he married Salome Scott on 13 Nov 1783 at Ashfield, Franklin, Massachusetts. Salome Scott was born on 22 July 1767 at Stafford, Tolland, Connecticut, and died in July 1794 at Ashfield, Franklin, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Stephen Scott and Rhoda Graves. Salome and John had 5 children, including:[1]

  • Esther

Second, he married, on 3 July 1794 at Ashfield, Franklin, Massachusetts, Elizabeth Standish. Elizabeth Standish was born on 25 Sept 1770 at Ashfield, Franklin, Massachusetts, and died on 11 May 1847 at Lincolnville, Crawford, Pennsylvania. Elizabeth and John had 9 children.
