Biography

Elizabeth (Loomis) Hull immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

Elizabeth Loomis was probably born about 1619 in Braintree, Essex, England;[1][2]the daughter of Joseph Loomis (son of John and Agnes Loomis) and his wife Mary White (daughter of Robert and Bridget (Allgar) White of Messing, Co. Essex, England.) Her father, a woolen-draper in Braintree, Co. Essex, England, sailed with his wife and family (five sons and three daughters) from London on April 11, 1638 on the ship Susan and Ellen and landed in Boston on July 17, 1638.[3]

On May 20, 1640/1 at Windsor, Elizabeth Loomis married Josias (Josiah) Hull, the oldest son of George Hull and his wife Thamsen (Michell) Hull. The Hull family had migrated to New England in 1629-30 with their family.[4][5]

Josias Hull, husband of Elizabeth (Loomis) Hull was a witness to the will of his wife's father, Joseph Loomis is found on page 23 & 122 of "Descendants of Joseph Loomis in America."[3]

Both Elizabeth and her husband are listed among those who came from Dorchester to Windsor on page 10 of "Some Early Records and Documents of and relating to the Town of Windsor, Connecticut, 1639 - 1703."[6]

In 1643/44 Elizabeth and Josias moved to Killingworth, Connecticut where Josias was given land on the north side of Main Street, west of Indian River.[4]

Josias Hull died at Killingworth on November 16, 1675 leaving behind eleven children[4]Elizabeth was still living in 1665.[7]
