Daniel Loper was born on July 18, 1797, in Salem, New Jersey, to Rebecca Roberts, age 27, and Uriah Loper, age 33.
He married Lucy Rutty in 1817 in Tioga County, Pennsylvania. [1] They had ten children in 19 years. In the 1820 census, they are enumerated in Sullivan Township on the far eastern central border of Tioga County, In addition to Daniel and Lucy, there is one son and two daughters in the record. [2]
By the 1850 census, the family had relocated to Franklin Township in Des Moines County, Iowa. Franklin Township was first established in 1841, so Daniel and family are some of the earliest residents, [3] Ten years later they are in the same location, farming, and only two children remain in the household. [4] In 1870, still farming on their land, [5]
David died on April 9, 1878, in Sperry, Iowa, having lived a long life of 80 years, and was buried there in the Loper Cemetery. [6]
