Biography

Charlie was born in 1877. He was the son of Martin Lord and Nancy Ann Dutcher. He passed away in 1914.

DEATH’S RELIEF Charles Lord Residing at Monmouth Passes Away Early This Morning Was A Soldier And Veteran of Spanish-American War – Death Due to Meningitis Charles Lord, 36 years of age and for his entire life a resident of Monmouth, passed away at his home at that place this morning at 2 o’clock, death being caused by cerebral meningitis from which he had been a sufferer for the past month. Mr. Lord was born in Monmouth on August 28, 1877 and was the son of Martin and Nancy Lord. He resided in Monmouth all of his life, gaining his early education from the county schools and growing to manhood at his birthplace. When the Spanish-American war broke out, Mr. Lord was among the first to enlist to fight for her country’s honor. He served during the entire engagement and honorably fulfilled his posision. When his term expired, he returned to his home and has remained there since, with the exception of a short time that he was under physician’s care at Richmond. A month ago cerebral meningitis set in and his health and vitality decreased each succeeding day until death relieved him of his suffering early this morning. Besides the parents, Mr. Lord is survived by five sisters and two brothers, one brother in Fort Wayne, and a brother in this city, one sister in Fort Wayne, one in this city and three residing at Monmouth. Mr. Lord has never taken the vows of marriage. The funeral will be held Thursday morning at 10 o’clock from the home and interment will be held in the Monmouth cemetery.
