James Lord was baptised in Todmorden, Lancashire, on 2 April 1716. (Todmorden was partly in Lancashire at that time.) His father was Simson Lord. James Lord married Elisibeth Mitchel at Todmorden, Yorkshire, on 29 Dec 1747. Their son James Lord was baptised at Newchurch in Rossendale (about 8 miles from Todmorden) in 1745. James Lord senior was buried at St. Mary, Todmorden, Lancashire, on 6 Oct 1783. At that time, Todmorden was on the county boundary between Lancashire and Yorkshire.
