Born in Halifax in 1854, she appears in the 1871 Census of Popes Harbor, Nova Scotia. She lists her Nationality (ethnic origin?) as German[1]and appears again in the 1881 Census with her young family.[2]
Elizabeth married William Dean at age 22 in 1876 in Halifax County. There is an image of the marriage certificate at NovaScotiaGenealogy.com.[3]
Eliza Jane married Chester O. Hale at the age of 64, June 13, 1917, in East Jaffrey, New Hampshire.[4]

Elizabeth lived in Johnson, Vermont.
Confusingly, an obituary for her brother William lists all the siblings and lists Elizabeth a Jane Hale of Townsend instead.
There are a number of entries for Dean family members in the Whitten family bible that couldn't be interpreted.
The bible also contains a newspaper clipping about the marriage of George H. Lorman and Mabel Bourassa, where the reception was held at the groom's mother's house, Elizabeth Lorman of 57 West Fifth Street. Presumably this is not the same woman.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Eliza by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Eliza:
