Biography

Simon4 Lott (Arthur3, John2, John1) (assumed to be son of Arthur and Sarah as he appeared in Miss. at same time they did as well as witnessing deeds with Arthur and sons in Georgia); born between 1781 and 1789 most likely in Georgia. He married Nancy McAfee, daughter of Joseph McAfee, 20 Jan 1818 [1]

He died before 1850 Covington County, Mississippi (assumed to be dead before census of 1850. The several Lott young men shown on the 1850 census scattered in various families are assumed to be his sons).

He lived in 1802 Tattnall County Georgia[2]

He lived in 1805 Tattnall County, Georgia he witnessed the deed of Absalom Lott on 10 Feb 1810. [3]

He lived on 5 Jun 1810 Tattnall Co., GA [4], said Simon Lott served on grand jury.

He began military service in 1814 Miss. Territory [5] Sgt in 13th Reg (Nixon's Miss Militia.).

He lived in 1817 Marion Co., MS [6]

He appeared on the census of 1820 p. 83, Marion Co., MS (Simon Lott, h/h 20001-001 (age 26-45) 10 slaves).

He witnessed the probate of the estate of John Warren on 22 Jan 1822 Marion Co., MS (said John Warren, Jr. & Dan Warren are to serve as executors of the will) [7]

He witnessed the probate of the estate of William Morgan on 23 Jul 1827 Marion Co., MS [8]

He appeared on the census of 1830 Marion Co., MS (p 112) Simon Lott (age 40-49) 2100001-0210001 18s).

He executed a deed on 20 Jan 1832 Marion Co., MS [9] (Simon Lott gives slaves to wife Nancy and her children and appoints wife's father, Joseph McAfee, guardian.).

He appeared on the census of 1840 Covington Co., MS p 141.Simon Lott (age 50-59) 01211002-1010).

Nancy McAfee was born between 1781 and 1790 (as estimated from 1830 census).

Morgan M. Lott (listed as son of Simon) (Ibid.); born 14 Jun 1827. He appeared on the census of 1850 Covington Co., MS (p 287, Morgan M. Lott, 22, m, farmer, MS).


Simon Lott is born 1780 and dies 1840 in Covington County, Mississippi. Records indicate he first settled in Marion County, Mississippi. He remained in Marion County, Mississippi through 1830. At some point between 1830 and 1840 he moved to Covington County, Mississippi. Where records indicate that he died sometime between 1840 and 1850.
