Findagrave.com states Adam Mott married his half sister, Mary Lott in Portsmouth, Rhode Island in Oct 1647 when he was 24 yrs old.
Genealogist Josephine C. Frost in The Haviland Genealogy (1914) [1] on page 48, "Adam (Mott),..., married his step-sister, Mary Lott, and the above is her will (Pages 46 and 47). He died in 1673 and was married in 1647. He was a Freeman of Portsmouth 1655 and Deputy the year of his death. Their children were: Rebecca, born Sept. 1648; Adam, born Sept. 1650, died Dec. 19, 1676; John, born Jan. 1, 1671; Mary, born Jan. 1, 1656; Sarah, born Oct. 11, 1657, married John Tripp; Elizabeth, born Aug. 6, 1659, died 1723, married Wm. Ricketson and Mathew Wing; Phebe, born Aug. 20, 1661 ; Bethiah, born April 1, 1664, married an Abbott and Abigail, born May 3, 1660, died 1720, married Benjamin Haviland."
Mary came to America with her mother, step-father, and step-brothers and sister, in 1635. She married Adam Mott, who is the son of her step-father. Her will is signed, Portsmouth, R.I., in 1710. In itshe lists five daughters, including Abigail. [2]
