Richard’s father, Richard Lounsbury, passed away by December 8, 1694 at Rye, Westchester, New York. His will, proved 7, or 8, December 1694, mentions wife, Elizabeth, and daughter, Mary; gave to son John, a bed, etc.; and to sons Thomas and Michael, all his rights at White Plains, the latter sold out his portion; to his son, Henry, his rights in "Raccone Ridge", and Lame Wills Purchase; required his son Richard's £10 note, "when time is out a cording to bargain". The widow Elizabeth was administratrix. (Selleck-Jacobus: "Miner Ancestry", 1928.) His daughter Mary was mentioned in the recorded will, but not in the published version of Westchester County Wills.[1][3][4]
Marriage
Richard married Abigail Thomas[1][2] before 1696-7.
Death
Richard Lounsbury died intestate. Administration was granted to his widow, Abigail:
"Richard, m. Elizabeth Du Bois. A Richard, carman, of New York, d. intest., admin. granted his widow, Abigail, 28 Feb. 1715-16. ("New York Wills", 2:165, pub. in COll. N. Y. Hist. Soc.) However, see Record, 17:280."[1]
Children of Richard Lounsbury and Abigail Thomas
Richard, of Kingstown, New York in 1733[2] b. abt. 1696
It appears that brothers John Lounsbury and Richard Lounsbury have been confused in records. It was Richard, not John, who married Abigail Thomas.
"On the 10th day of April 1733, Richard3 Lounsbury of Kingstown, New York, deeded land to his brother Josiah Lounsbury of New Haven, Connecticut (New Haven Land Deeds Vol. 9, p. 300). The land deeded by Richard3 to Josiah was 'all the land lying in the fifth division of the town of New Haven aforesaid the which apportiond to my honored mother Abigail Lounsberry late of New York deceased which right accrued to her by a division of her father John Thomas of New Haven his estate.' The Lounsbury husband of Abigail Thomas was therefore Richard2 Lounsbury and they had at least two children: Richard3 of Kingston and Josiah of New Haven."[5]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Richard by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Richard:
