John Love. [2][3][4][5][6]

I do not believe John Love is the son of Alexander Love. There are many records which indicate that John Love came through Frederick Co., Va, then Surry Co., NC, to Mecklenburg Co., such as the following:

11 Dec 1749 Frederick Co., VA - John LOVE and Joseph ROBINS are witnesses for a lease between Landon Carter and David Smith.

Dec 1758 Frederick Co., VA - Will of William Ramey, Sr., Executor was Thomas SHARP, Jr.

Jan 1762 - Frederick Co., VA - Will of Thomas SHARP, Jr., names daughters, Elizabeth NATION, Sarah LOVE, Mary RAMEY and others.

23 Jul 1762, Westfield MM notes: Thomas LOVE born, son of John and Sarah 1768 Rowan Co., NC - NC Tax List includes John LOVE, also John, Joseph, Christopher and Thomas NATION.

Nov 1773, Surry Co., NC - Joseph NATION buys 206 acres on Muddy Creek adjoining Wachovia Tract. 1774 NC - NC Tax List for Wachovia area lists John LOVE and son William LOVE - 2 polls

Mar 1776 - Joseph NATION sells 280 acres on Muddy Creek adjoining Moravian Creek

2 Jan 1779, Joseph Williams buys land or improvements from John NATION, William RAMEY, John LOVE and William LOVE

13 Feb 1780 Surry Co., NC - Court ordered John & William LOVE to view road to Salem Town.

Feb 1785 Surry Co., NC - Deed on Muddy Creek adjoins John LOVE, William RAMEY and Thomas RAMEY.

1788 Randolph Co., NC - Petition of Randolph Co., NC signed by John LOVE, Sr., Christopher NATION, Joseph, Moses, William and Isaac ROBINS and Thomas SHARP.

Jul 1788 Mecklenburg Co., NC - Thomas NATION purchases 150 acres on Paw Creek, Mecklenburg Co., NC

David Smith of the 1749 record came from Richmond Co., Va, and it appears that his step sister married a James Love, and they may be the parents of John Love. Lee Bain, ljbain @ fidnet.com

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

Mary Love,

I'm certainly not very familiar with this John Love profile, but it seems most people agree he died after his will was written July 23, 1791 in Mecklenburg Co, NC. . The will says he was in a "distressing weak state of body" when it was executed. The following sources say it was probated in 1791. https://archives.ncdcr.gov/mecklenburg-county-wills-i/open (John Love – 1791) https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/6008:3945 There are no further records showing this John Love was ALIVE into the 1800s except for the Rev War Pension record posted on this profile..

It's doubtful this John Love is the Revolutionary War Soldier John Love, who was receiving a pension In Salisbury District North Carolina (#3677) because the pension benefits were received from March 1833 - March 1842, when he was about 109 to 117 years old. https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/5605:1116

Please take a look and see if you believe the current Rev War facts should be removed.

Thanks for any help, Peggy Mac

Hello Lee, It looks like Love-3341 is the same person as the Love-1269 who you also manage. Should they be merged?
