Research Notes

This profile stated that her parents were Martha and "James LOVE born in County Antrim, Ireland". A profile with the same dates but a different husband, Love-1131, references the 1760 will of James Love, which names Adam McCool his son-in-law. Jean was still living in January 1788. (See Adam's profile for details.) This timeline precludes her from being the mother of William Gaston's children (born 1765, 1766, 1770).

Other Jane/Jean Loves: It appears there are three Jane/Jean Loves of about the same time:
  1. Love-1131: wife of Adam McCool at the time of her father's 1760 will and dead before Adam's 1801 will, which names his wife "Mary" (his profile says that after Jane died, he married her sister Mary).
  2. [Love-5017]: this Jeanette, wife of William Gaston and mother of his children (the eldest born 1765). She died c1775, when he married Ann Porter (and he names his wife "Ann" in his 1814 will).
  3. another Jean Love (apparently), wife of James Kirkpatrick, who was merged into this profile, adding Kirkpatrick children among the Gaston children.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jeannette by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jeannette:

Love-1131 and Love-5017 do not represent the same person because: not ready yet as tehre are other name issues found in the will of her father like Maccool that have not been resolved. Also the DAR has problems with this line..... they have that some of the old applications have mixed generations as well
Mike,

I apologize. It appears that someone else (Christine Pike) completed the merge. Allan Cates

Mike,

I have reviewed the proposed merge information. I am concerned over the overlap of birth's of children for the two women. If merged Jeannette would have had children by both husbands at roughly the same time. Also, the only source listed in the profile for Jeannette Love Kirkpatrick ( Find-A-Grave) memorial #148570633 makes no mention of the name Kirkpatrick. For now I am going to leave the proposed merge as "Pending". If you can come up with further documentation regarding the "Kirkpatrick" connection, please let me know. Thanks, Allan Cates
