Walter was born 1858, High Church District, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Parents being David Love and Isabella McAllister. ^[1]

Note: Mothers forename Isabella or Elizabeth. I have added notes below to address difference in forename.

1861 Blythswood Lanark, Scotland. Walter Love age recorded as 2 years, his father David Love age 41, mother Isabella Love, age 35. Siblings in the household Charles Love age recorded as 12 years, Margaret Love age 7, James Love age 5 and William Love age 3. ^[2]

1871 Residence 51 West Regent Street, Blythswood, Lanark. Walter Love age 11 and recorded as attending School (Scholar), his father David Love age 51, occupation Coachman, birthplace recorded as Roxburghshire, his mother Isabella Love age 44, birthplace Lanarkshire. Siblings in the household Margaret Love, age 16, occupation domestic Servant, James Love, age 15, (Scholar) and William Love, age 13, Scholar. All children birthplace recorded as Lanarkshire. ^[3]

1875 Walter would have been about 16 years old when his mother Isabella Love died at the age of about 48. Death registered in Blythswood, Lanarkshire. ^[4]

Notes:

Mothers forename has been recorded as Elizabeth when Walter married in 1884.

With the research I have done I have not been able to locate a birth registration for Walter with mother as Elizabeth McAllister and father as David Love....
I am currently leaning towards his mothers forename actually being Isabella... My reasoning behind this is a birth registration found in 1858 with parents being David Love and Isabella McAllister, registered in Glasgow and two (2) census registrations with mothers name as Isabella ....

All the information I am currently finding seems to lead to his mothers forename being Isabella... This Isabella died in 1875, that would mean that Walter would have been about 16 years old when this happened. I also believe his father died in 1882...

There is a Sibling named Charles, birth registration in Glasgow , 1848, with mothers forename recorded as Elizabeth... I have found him with his parents in 1851 and his mothers forename has been recorded as Isabella, same as in 1861...

Other siblings Jane, David, Elizabeth Ann, Margaret, James and William all have mothers forename of Isabella....

Why then was mother recorded as Elizabeth when Walter married in 1884 and when his sibling Charles was born in 1848 .

1. Walter got it wrong when he got married , he was possibly 16 when mother died and his father possibly died in 1882 ?
2. The registrar interpreted the name incorrectly ?
3. Mothers name is a combination of the (2) , Elizabeth Isabella McAllister / Isabella Elizabeth McAllister or she is just Isabella....
4. I am following the wrong family line ....?

Until I find alternative information/ sources that states otherwise I will assume mothers forename is actually Isabella as opposed to Elizabeth... and will enter all the sources and continue research along this line.... until a break is found if any.......
