Biography

Susan (Sukey) LOVING was born March 22, 1777, and she died April 11, 1816.[1]

23 Nov1805, 28 Nov 1808 . Will of Elizabeth Loving. Wits. :none. " Widow of Wm. Loving, Daughter Sally Loving, daughter ,Peggy Loving. if Sally and Peggy are without issue ,then their shares to my daughters Mary Staples and Sukey Vaughan or their female representatives. Bond owed to Jno. Hartgrove for benefit of my dec'd daughter,Nancy.Her daughter is now under control of my daughter Peggy, and if Hartgrove removes her, she gets no sum. My daughter, Lucy Taliaferro, I owe $200.00 to store of Taliaferro and Loving. Exrs.: my son Jno. Loving, and my friend Chas. Taliaferro.[2]

Nelson County, Virginia Chancery Case 1840-009. Richard C Fortune & Wife, et al vs. Samuel Hansbrough, et al. Plaintiff’s are Richard C. Fortune m. Mary M. Vaughan, Irvine Guy, gdn. for Susan L. Guy, the only dau. of Nancy L. Guy, dec’d, formerly Nancy L. Vaughan (one of the daughters of Sukey Vaughan), Lucinda Vaughan, minor by her next friend George Vaughan, Thomas Smoot, Jordan Arrington & his wife Poley, formerly Polly Staples. Their grandmother Elizabeth Loving made her will 28 Nov 1808, probated in Nelson County, naming daus. Sally Loving, Peggy Loving, with a remainder to Mary Staples and Sukey Vaughan. Peggy Loving m. William Walker and had several children, Sally Loving m. Samuel Hamsbrough. Sally d. w/o issue in 1837. Sukey Vaughan d. before Sally and left Mary M. who m. Richard C. Fortune and Nancy who m. Irvin Guy. Sukey had a dau. Betsy who m. William Vaughan and Nancy who m. WilliamGuy. Betsey had one child Lucinda L. Guy. Mary Staples d. before Sally . Mary left females: _____(dec’d) m. Thomas Smoot and had Polly who m. Jordan Arrington, Elizabeth m. Christopher Timberlake. Sally m. John Smoot, Nancy m. Burton Landrum. Case started 1837; and ended in 1840. [3]

Sukie was born in 1777. She passed away in 1816.
