Abraham Rife was born in 1806. He moved to Gasconade, Missouri, in 1835, then to Denton, Texas, in 1847, where he opened up a farm; "there was not a house between them and the Rio Grande." In 1852 the family settled in Sherman, Texas, to school the children.
Abraham died in 1878 and was buried in Odd Fellows' Cemetery, Denton, Texas.
