Biography

George was born about 1820. He was the son of William Lowe and Jane Gore.

He married Mercy Wayne at White Burk Springs, Iowa, Wisconsin[1] . He was living with Mercy and their daughter in 1850.[2]

He married Esther Bergun 19 Nov 1854. [3]

He married Ann Cook in 1856. [4] George, Ann, and Mary Jane (Mercy's daughter) were living in the household of John Idle in Jefferson City, Missouri, in 1860. [5]

George enlisted in the Union Army 6 Nov 1861 in Jefferson City and was mustered into Company K, 47th Illinois infantry, 31 Dec 1861. He was mustered out 6 Oct 1863 (died of hepatitis in the regimental hospital at Vicksburg, Warren County, Mississppi).[6] [7]
