Biography

OBIT: Funeral services for the Rev. Benis D. Lowe, 84, Attalla, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Morgan Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Myron Allenstine and the Rev. Tony McGowen officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, and the family will meet with friends again after services at the Church of The Holy Spirit, Hughes Ave., Attalla. The Rev. Lowe was a Retired Evangelist and Pastor of several churches. He was a lifelong resident of Attalla and was owner and operator of B&B Motors in Gadsden and Collinsville. He was a member of the Collinsville Masonic Lodge. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Sarah "Boots" Lowe. Survivors: daughter, Cynthia Lowe Hicks (John Hicks), Hueytown, Ala.; sons, Terry Lowe (Sherry Bone Lowe), Duck Springs, Timothy Ray Lowe (Kimberly Christopher Lowe), Newborn, Ga.; chosen son, Ed Gilcrist, Gadsden; sister, Janet Weatherby, Snellville, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Kenny Smith and Dr. Elquis Castillo. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening and Friday until the time of services. Morgan Funeral Chapel and Crematory directing.
