In 1851 William was with his widowed mother and siblings in Golborne. [3]
In 1861 William was with his older brother Thomas, a clogger and pattern maker, in Golborne. [4]
When William was 22 he married Jane Hoult on 4 September 1864 in St Thomas' church, Golborne, Lancashire. He was a clogger. [2] The couple had at least 7 children.
In 1881 William was living in Golborne. [5]
