Ray Lowe was born April 30, 1963, at a Gary, Indiana, hospital; his family lived nearby in Hobart, Lake County, Indiana, USA, which didn't have a hospital until 1971. Ray and his sister Karen grew up in Hobart. Ray graduated from Hobart High School in 1982, where he enjoyed working and studying in the print shop and appearing in school plays under the direction of Miss Shirley Mumaugh.
Ray had a huge heart, a wealth of stories to tell, and was one of those friendly souls who "never met a stranger." He served in the US Navy in the 1980s and later served in the Indiana National Guard. One of his favorite jobs was driving and conducting on the steam train locomotives at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World.
He died of metastatized lung cancer at his sister's home on April 15, 2015.
