Is there any evidence that the Maryland colonist was the son of John Lowe of Denby? He is not mentioned in his father's will or in the family papers at Nottingham University: https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/manuscriptsandspecialcollections/collectionsindepth/family/drury-lowe/biographies/biographyofjohnlowe(1642-1722).aspx.

Definitely not the son of John Lowe of Denby. The Denby parish register records that "John the son of John Lowe Esquire was buried at Ashburne in the Peake and dyed theire October the 23rd 1687". Ancestry uk Record 61407 #3284226

And in the Ashbourne parish register: Buried Oct 1687: "23. John Lowe son of John Low Denby Esq".

I am no expert and I think that there is a lot of confusion with the Lowe family tree. One of my sources was The British Roots of Maryland Families pg 297.

I suspect this is yet another case of wishful thinking by someone wanting to connect an emigrant to English gentry, simply on the basis of matching names. Unfortunately John Lowe is a fairly common name.

I have created a new profile for John Lowe 1672-1687 son of John Lowe esq. of Denby, and suggest that this one is disconnected, and place of birth edited to simply "England".

Can you include the quotation from The British Roots of Maryland Families? I cannot find a free version on the internet; there is a link on Ancestry, but it is not included in my Ancestry UK subscription. Thanks.

Lowe-5066 and Lowe-3983 appear to represent the same person because: Same dates
