Stephen's older brother, James C. Lowe, married Sarah Roberts, aunt to Laura Roberts.

1880 U.S. Federal Census Stephen’s family is living next door to Robert and Mary “Polly” Roberts Walsh Stephen J. Lowe, age 1 is living in District 7, Johnson, TN, son of William H Lowe who was born in Virginia and Sarah C Lowe who was born in Tennessee. Siblings listed are Jacob age 13, Noah S. age 11, Joseph E age 9, Charles E age 8, John M Age 4

1900 U.S. Federal Census Home: Abingdon, Washington, VA Stephen’s age is 23, Laura’s is 19 and their daughter Maggie A is 3 years old.

1910 U. S. Federal Census Stephen and family are living in Williams Precinct #5, Crook Co, WY. This census lists him as a manufacturer of lumber and an employer.

U.S. World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918 for Stephen J Lowe dated 12 Sep, 1918. This record states that Stephen was born 16 Oct 1876. His present Occupation is Stationary Engineer & fireman for Rapid City Schools. His wife is Mrs. Laura Lowe and their address is 326 Quincy St., Rapid City, Pennington, SD.

The record description states that his height is tall, build is medium, color eyes blue, color of hair brown.

Stephen Lowe, died Jan 6, 1950, age 71 yrs, 2 months, 21 days. He is buried in Grave 2, Lot 659, Block No. 65 of the Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City, South Dakota. No marker on his grave. He was the son of William Harrison Lowe and Sarah C. Pleasant.
