Clinkingbeard, Mary Margaret Clinkingbeard and Sarah Clinkingbeard, James Dollar and wife, Mahala, John N. Lawrence and wife, Catharine, John R. "Two years later (abt. 1842) Alexander and John Lowrance, Joab Scott, Morgan Davis, John Thurman, Jesse Brake and others settled in the same locality. These settlers were principally from Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio." [11]
"On May 3, 1852, School Township No. 8, consisting of Township 33 north, Range 16 west, was organized, the first meeting of the inhabitants to be held at the house of John S. Shields, on the first Saturday of June following. John S. Shields was appointed commissioner, and R. E. Clinkingbeard and John N. Lowrance, inspectors." [12]
