Biography

James Corry Lowry was born on 1 November 1809. He was the eldest son and heir of James Lowry of Rockdale, County Tyrone, and Harriet Pepper.

James Corry Lowry, QC, was Master of the Court of Exchequer in Ireland.

He married three times.

Firstly, in 1832, he married Dorinda Jones, second daughter of James Jones of Mount Edward, County Sligo.

James and Dorinda had seven children:

1. James Corry Jones Lowry m Elizabeth Jackson Greer
2. Edward Leslie Barnwell Lowry
3. Thomas Pepper Lowry
4. George Pepper Lowry
5. Robert John Colvill Lowry m Constance Lyons
6. Harriett Lowry m Michael Obins Seeley Jones
7. Eliza Lowry m John J Twigg, KC

His first wife, Dorinda, died in 1845.

On 22 March 1848 in Newry, County Down, he married, secondly, Ellen Johnston, widow of Frederick Gamble.^{[1][2] [3]}They did not have any children.

Thirdly, on 20 August 1850 in Ahamplish, County Sligo, he married Jane Jones, eldest daughter of Booth Jones of Streedagh, County Sligo.^[4]

James and Jane had one son:

1. Reverend Somerset Thomas Corry Lowry m Hon Alice Venables Vernon

James died on 20 June 1869 in Dublin.^[5][6]
