Research Note

A Mansfield Lowther appears in two Missouri censuses: one done June 1 1880 that names his wife and children 2. Mansfield Lowther, 35 years old born in WV was a resident of a Lunatic Asylum on June 21 1880 [9] who is also in a 1900 census for the same institution, however, there is no birth year or place for him. Perhaps this may be supposed to be the same person and he was present in the census on June 1 in Linn County and committed by June 21 in Callaway County. Unfortunately, after serving bravely in the Civil War his grandfather die in an insane asylum in Virginia.
