Obituary

Source: Volume LXXXV No. 46 Blakely, Georgia, Thursday Morning, July 5, 1945. Front Page: Mrs. Homer E. Williams Died Last Thursday

Following closely behind the death of her husband, Mrs. Annie Lee Loyless Williams, 44, wife of the late Homer E. Williams, died in a Cuthbert hospital at 6 o'clock the past Thursday morning. Mrs. Williams, whose death was attributed to a cerebral hemorrhage, was stricken ill soon after the death of her husband and was carried to the hospital for treatment. The news of her passing occasioned widespread sorrow.

Mrs. Williams, who was born in this county on November 23, 1900, was a daughter of Mr. J. Chesterfield Loyless and the late Mrs. Loyless. She was a member of the Langston Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at four o'clock at the home of her father, with the Revs. J. Alton Davis and W. E. Storey officiating. Interment was in the city cemetery, with the Minter Funeral Home in charge and C. W. Shierling, J. E. Beckham, Joe Bowman, Howard Davenport, D. D. Knighton and H. C. Fort serving as pall-bearers.

The large number of friends attending the last rites and the lovely floral offerings attested the love and sympathy of many friends for the deceased and for the members of the family whose hearts have been deeply grieved by the passing from the home in so short a time of both father and mother.

Surviving Mrs. Williams are her four children, Mrs. Jeanette Widener, Peggy Ann Williams, Jerry Chesterfield Williams and James Franklin Williams; her father, J. C. Loyless; and the following brothers and sisters: Curtis Loyless, J. C. Loyless, Jr., Miss Bessie Loyless and Mrs. Ruby Jarrett, all of Blakely; Jesse Loyless, of Donalsonville; Mrs. Emmie Julian, of Albany, and Bill Loyless, of the U. S. Army.
