Biography

Paula Lozada Y Medina was born 6 March 1916 in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico to Pascual Lozada Y Diaz and Bruna Medina Y López.[1] She married Nicolâs Cruz Y Martinez on 8 May 1937.[2] They had two children: Josê Gilberto and Gabriel.[3] Given Paula was the informant on her husband's death certificate, we know she was alive in April of 1981 and residing in San Juan.[4]

1920 US Census - Pascual Lozada Y Diaz, Age 25, is enumerated as head of household, in a rural area of Monotones, Las Piedras, Puerto Rico with his wife Bruna Medina Y López, Age 30. Also present are their children: Julio, Age 5; Angel, Age 3; Paula, Age 2, and Justiniano, Age 0.

1930 US Census - Pascual Lozada Y Diaz, Age 40, is enumerated as head of household, in a rural area of Monotones, Las Piedras, Puerto Rico with his wife Bruna Medina Y López, Age 45. Also present are their children: Julio, Age 14; Angel, Age 11; Felicita, Age 1; Pascual working in cane fields.

1935 Puerto Rico Social and Population Schedules - Pascual Lozada Y Diaz, Age 48; is enumerated as head of household, in a rural area of Monotones, Las Piedras, Puerto Rico with his wife Bruna Medina Y López, Age 49. Also present are their children: Angel, Age 20; Paulina, Age 17; Justiniano, Age 15; Domingo, Age 12; Felicita, Age 8; Virginia, Age 2;

1940 US Census - Nicholas Cruz - Age 22; is enumerated as head of household, in Montones, Las Piedras, Puerto Rico with his wife Paula Lozada, Age 20 and their two sons José Gilberto, Age 2, and Gabriel, Age 0. Nicholas works in sugar cane fields.
