Houdenbek Slave Revolt, 1825

Elsje Johanna (Lúbbe) Janse van Rensburg (1776-aft.1843), whose father father farmed at "Grote Valley" near the Olifantsrivier, behind the Schurfteberg range. She was married to Willem Janse van Rensburg, farming at Vaalenkloof, next to Houdenbek, right where the revolt happened, on 4th Feb 1825[6].

The records of the trial at Worcester mention three Lubbe men, "Barend", "Hans" and "Schalk", who might very well have been her brothers Barend Frederik (Lúbbe) Lubbe (1775-1839), Schalk Willemse Lubbe (1781-1863), and Johannes Hendrik Lubbe (abt.1790-1838).

Lúbbe-815 and Lubbe-173 do not represent the same person because: These two profiles have very different dates of birth (baptism) and spouses.p

Please see my original comment on this profile regarding possible duplication. I agree that the D.O.B is quite different, but the spouse is the 2nd spouse of Lúbbe-815 (refer Bio). Not sure where the D.O.B comes from.....

This profile is a potential duplication with Barend Frederik (Lúbbe) Lubbe (1775-), but their dates of birth differ quite a bit. The SAG Register entry for Barend Frederik (Lúbbe) Lubbe (1775-) is :

b12c8d3 Barend Frederik 16.4.1775 x Kaapstad 22.11.1795 Elsie Aletta VAN RENSBURG 5.4.1777 d.v. Nicolaas Janse van Rensburg en Hester Helena Burger xx 2.9.1798 Hester Johanna VORSTER 28.10.1780 d.v. Schalk Willem Vorster en Anna Sophia Burger xxx Graaff-Reinet 25.5.1789 Helena Levina BESTER 16.8.1789 d.v. Nicolaas Willem Bester en Jacoba van der Heyde

I haven't been able to find a Barend Frederik with a date of birth of 10 May 1781 in the SAG Registers at all. Unless you have another source with that info, I suggest we merge the 2 profiles.
