Biography

Johann Georg Friedrich was born on 29 Aug 1789 as son of the wind miller Georg Christoph Lucas and his wife Friederica Scherzen in Görike, Mark Brandenburg, Kingdom of Prussia, Holy Roman Empire. He was baptized on 4 Sep 1789 in the church of Görike. [1]

Johann Georg Friedrich Lucas was married twice.

The first marriage was before 1812 with Marie Charlotte Sophie Ukrow. The couple has eight known children:

His first wife Marie Charlotte Sophie nee Ukrow passed away on 29 Aug 1853 in Genthin.

On 20 Jul 1858 he married a second time, to Marie Friederike Emma Wilhelmine Krüger in the Sankt-Trinitatis-Kirche in Genthin, County Jerichow II, Government District Magdeburg, Province Saxony, Kingdom of Prussia, German Federation. [2]

They had no known children.

As the son of a windmiller, he received only two years of schooling, then learned the miller's trade. Later he moved to Wust and married there. However, Johann Georg Friedrich Lucas was determined to become a teacher and requested a scholarship from the King of Prussia, which he received. Since 1818, school inspector Wagner taught him in Altenplathow and since he was very presentable, he was soon able to take up a position in Lühe near Möckern. Then he became cantor and third school teacher in Gommern and in 1820 cantor and school teacher in Altenplathow near Magdeburg. After the death of his first wife, he went to Genthin, where he married again. [3][4]

He passed away on 27 Feb 1867 in Genthin, County Jerichow II, Government District Magdeburg, Province Saxony, Kingdom of Prussia, North German Federation and was burried on 1 Mar 1867 on the cemetery of the Sankt-Trinitatis-Kirche Genthin. [5]
