Biography

Obadiah was born about 1819.[1]He was the son of Obadiah Luce and Phebe. He may have passed away by 1862.

Research Notes

Obadiah Jr. is a blank slate. The only documented evidence of his existence is a nearly cryptic entry in his father's will, dated 27 Feb 1862:

My son, Obadiah E. Luce, has been gone several years, & I do not know whether he is alive or not. If he should not appear and claim his share or portion of my property with my other children within eighteen months next after this will is proved, then he, or his children if he should have any are not to have any share of the property devised or bequeathed by this will.[2]

Beyond that entry, no other mention is found of his existence other than entries, possibly copied from each other, on Ancestry.com, none of which document where it be found that he was born 8 Sep 1819 in Gaines, Orleans Co., New York. The other children were born in 1810, 1816, 1824, 1827, 1830, 1834. It would then seem logical that a child was born either between 1810-1816 or, as they have put forth, 1816-1824. CITATION NEEDED.
