Ernest P. Lucier Hopedale – Ernest P. Lucier, 83, of Hopedale St. formerly of Milford died Thursday evening Dec. 30, 2010 in the Milford Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Mary E. (Morgan) Lucier who died in 1998. Mr. Lucier, along with his wife, established the Purchase St. Market in 1972 and was a familiar face at the store for almost 40 years, until retiring in 2007. He also worked for many years at the Draper Corporation in Hopedale, MA. He was born May 14, 1927 in Milford, son of the late Emery and Alice R. (Rousseau) Lucier. He had been a lifelong resident of Milford until moving to Hopedale in 2009 and was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1945. Mr. Lucier had served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during WWII. He was a member of the Maspenock Rod & Gun Club and a communicant at St. Mary’s Church in Milford. Ernest is survived by two sons; Bernie and his wife Denise Lucier of Mendon and Jack and his wife Michelle Lucier of Cypress, TX, one daughter, Janice and her husband Jim Stallone of Milford, one daughter-in-law Beth M. (Felton) Lucier of Uxbridge, one brother Leo Lucier of Milford, 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son Ron Lucier, five brothers; Francis Lucier, Albert Lucier, Louis Lucier, Frederick Lucier, and Edward Lucier, and three sisters; Josephine Ostrand, Eva DeBoer, and Bertha Daudelin. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011 at 9 AM from the BUMA-SARGEANT FUNERAL HOME, 42 Congress St., Milford followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 10 AM in St. Mary’s Church, Winter St, Milford 01757. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton St., Milford. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011 from 5-8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Church, c/o Capital Fund, 27 Pearl St., Milford, MA 01757.

Ernest P. Lucier, 83, of Hopedale, formerly of Milford, died Thurs., Dec. 30, in the Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Mary E. (Morgan) Lucier, who died in 1998.
He was born in Milford, son of the late Emery and Alice R. (Rousseau) Lucier, and lived there all his life before moving to Hopedale in 2009. He graduated from Milford High School in 1945 and served with the Navy in the Pacific during World War II. Mr. Lucier and his wife established the Purchase Street Market in 1972 and he worked almost 40 years at the store before retiring in 2007. He also worked many years at the Draper Corporation in Hopedale. He was a member of the Maspenock Rod & Gun Club and a communicant at St. Mary's Church.
