Biography

Harrald A. Luck was born in Hornsey or Edmonton, Middlesex in 1896, to father William (Peter) Luck and Julia Sawyer. Harrald's given name was his paternal grandmother's last name - Sarah (Harrald) Luck. Alternate spellings including Harrold occurred.

According to family records and recollections, Harrald was nicknamed "Chip", as in "chip off the old block".

In the 1911 census, he lived with his parents, siblings and extended family in Friern Barnet, Middlesex, and was a 14 yr old printer's apprentice, most likely to his uncle Frederick Luck.

In 1921, he received his London Freedom of the City papers to become a Letterpress Printer apprentice working for Robert Sauvé.

He was a 33 year old printer living in Wealdstone when he married Kathleen Mary Horrex in 1929. They appear to have one living son and two living daughters, including Rosemary Luck b 1930, who is an active family historian.

Harrald died about October 1980.
