Biography

John Luckey was a hat maker. His parents are unknown. He was born in Tennessee in 1800 and married Ann "Nancy" Shields about 1825, probably in McMinn County since Polk County was not created from it until 1840. They had nine children, all of whom were born in Tennessee.

Between 1850 and 1860 the Luckey family moved to Smith County, Texas. It is presumed he died there between 1870 and 1880.

His widow Nancy died in Vinita, Craig, Oklahoma in 1880, where their son George was then living.
