European Aristocracy
Sir William Lucy was a member of the aristocracy in British Isles.

Sir William Lucy KB (c.1436-1492) was the son of William Lucy, Esq. of Charlecote, Warwickshire and Eleanor Grey, da. of Reynold Grey, 3rd Baron Grey of Ruthin. He m. (1) Margaret Brecknock (c.1436-c.1478), da. and cohrss of John Brecknock Esq. of Studham, co. Beds. and (2) Alice Hanbury da. of William Hanbury. [1]

Sir William Lucy KB was the Knight of the shire for Bedfordshire 1467-8, Sheriff of Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire 1468-9, Sheriff for Warwickshire and Leicestershire 1474-5. He was created a Knight of the Bath at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth Plantagenet, wife of King Henry VII in 1487.

Writ 8 July, 7 Hen. VII; inq. Tuesday after the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 8 Hen. VII.

One John Weston, John Parker, parson of Berforde, and John Whyte, vicar of Charlecote, gave the under-mentioned manors of Charlecofce and Shrewley to one William Lucy, his father, and Eleanor wife of the said William, and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to the right heirs of the said William the father. On their decease the said manors descended to him, as their son and heir. He died 3 July, 7 Hen. VII, seised of the other under-mentioned manors and lands in fee. Edmund Lucy the younger, aged 28 and more, is his son and heir. WARW. Manor of Charlecote, worth 10l., held of John Norbury, knt., and Edward Belknap, by fealty and 4d. rent at Michaelmas yearly, for all service. Manor of Shrewley, worth 40s., held of the King, as of the duchy of Lancaster, by fealty and 1 1/2d. rent at Michaelmas yearly. Manor of Cheryton, worth 6 marks, held of the Earl of Warwick, by service of 1/20 of a knight’s fee. Manor of Hunscote in Hunscote, worth 40s., held of William Stafforde of Bromecote, co. Stafford, service unknown. A messuage and a half virgate of land in Wellesborn Hastingez, worth 6s., held of the Prior of St. John of Jerusalem in England, by fealty and 15d. rent yearly. Two messuages and 44a. land in Newbolde Pacy, worth 6s. 8d., held of the said Prior, by fealty and 4s. 5 1/2d. rent yearly.

Writ 8 July, 7 Hen. VII; inq. Saturday, the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 8 Hen. VII. He died seised of the under-mentioned two parts in three of the manor of Cleybrok, in fee tail, according to the form of a fine thereof levied, 18 Edw. II, between William de la Plaunche, and Joan his wife, querents, and John de Olney and Maud his wife, deforciants, as appears of record in the King’s Chancery. Death and heir as in No. 835. LEIC. Two thirds of the manor of Cleybrok, worth 100s., held of William, Lord de la Zouche, service unknown.

VII, he enfeoffed William Sargyaunt, esq., Benet Lee of Warwick, John Hunt of Burbage, William Rose of Aldermynster, and Thomas Compton, chaplain, of the under-mentioned manor. Death and heir as in No. 835. WORC. Manor of Byshampton, worth 10 marks, held of the Bishop of Worcester, service unknown.

John Parker, parson of Bereford, and John Whyte, vicar of Charlecote, being seised of the under-mentioned manor in fee gave it to William Lucy, esq., and Eleanor his wife in tail (as in No. 835). Death and heir as in No. 835. GLOUC. Manor of Wike Rysyndon, worth 26s. 8d., held of Cicely, Duchess of York, service unknown.

The lordships, or manors, of Appley, worth 3l., of Bodye Stokton, worth 20s., and of Hygforde, worth 40s., held of Thomas, Earl of Arundell, by service of 1/4 of a knight’s fee. Manors of Hygforde Medilton, worth 4l., and of Ledwych, with the appurtenances of the latter, viz. 30a. land and 12a. meadow, worth 20s., held of the said Earl, by service of 1/3 of a knight’s fee.
