Biography

Charlotte Everard Lucy, daughter of William & Elizabeth, was baptised on 19 July 1829 in Hawkesbury, Gloucestershire, England.[1]

Charlotte married Charles John Everard on 23 March 1854 in Hawkesbury, Gloucestershire, England.[2]

The death occurred at Marshfield, Bay road, on Monday of Mrs. Charlotte Everard Everard, aged 86, the widow of Mr. Charles John Everard, one of the earliest arrivals in this State. Mr. Everard reached South Australia on board the Af ricaine in 1836, accompanied by his father, Dr. Charles George Everard, and his bro ther, the late William Everard, who was subsequently Commissioner of Crown Lands and Minister of Education. Mr. Charles John Everard was but a youth when he came to this State, but he did not forget "the girl he left behind him," if the expression is allowable, He cherished fond memories of hisGloucestershire cousin. Miss Charlotte Everard Lucy, and, after the death of his first wife, he de termined to go back to England and marry her. He sailed awayhome to his birth place in 1853 or thereabouts, and married his cousin and first love after the approved manner of romance. They left England together in the following year by the Pan taloon. They were subsequently well known as residents of the Bay road. Mr. Everard died 22 years ago. His daughter by the first wife, Mrs. Edwin Lucy (of Hindmarsh), still survives, as also do the following membersof the second family:X Mr. William Francis Everard (of Mal vern) and the MissesKate Everard and Rose Everard, who still occupy the old house on the Bay road. There are nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
