Biography

Grace Ludlow was born in 1892 in New Jersey. She was the daughter of John Davies "Jack" Ludlow and Eugenie Amelia Houghton "Genie" Stubbs. Jack was born in Cornwall, England, and immigrated to the US as a young man. Genie was a descendant of Rowland Stebbins, an early settler of Massachusetts.

Grace began attending college at Vassar, but had to leave school when her father died suddenly at age ---. The family

Merton worked as a mechanical engineer for Continental Oil Company. He married Grace Osborn Ludlow at Ponca City, Oklahoma, on 4 September 1927.^[1] They had three children,^[2] all of whom are still living.^[3]

Mert died in 1986 at Ponca City.^[4][5] Grace died in 1991 at the age of 99.

• Relationship is confirmed by autosomal DNA testing of Grace's son C Partridge and his first cousin, the daughter of Grace's brother Francis Eugene "Jimmy" Ludlow. The cousins matched on multiple chromosomes, for a total of 858 cM, including one block of 95 cM. These results are consistent with a first cousin relationship. Their most recent common ancestors were Grace's parents, John Davies Ludlow and Eugenie Emilia Houghton (Stubbs) Ludlow.

• Maternal relationship is confirmed by X-chromosome DNA testing of Grace's son C Partridge and his first cousin, the daughter of Grace's brother Francis Eugene "Jimmy" Ludlow. C and his cousin also have two significant matches on the X-chromosome (70.2 and 22.9 cM fragments) meaning that about 50% of the chromosome matches. C received his X-chromosome from Grace, who received one X each from her mother and her father. We can assume that Grace's niece received the matching X from her father, Jimmy, who received it from his mother. This implies that the X-chromosome that C and his cousin have in common came from Grace and Jimmy's mother, thereby confirming Grace and Jimmy's relationship to their mother, Eugenie Emilia Houghton (Stubbs) Ludlow.
