Rachel was born and baptized in Berks County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Phillip Bechtel Ludwig and Anna Dehart. She married John Dieter probably before 1828 when their first known child was born. No further records have been found after the 1950 census, so she is presumed to have died between 1850 and 1860 in Pickaway County, Ohio.
