Notes
Note:N2446 Abstract of Wills and Administrations, Berks County, Pennsylvania; Book: D42; PAGE: 281; Adam Ludwig; Robeson Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania; Death: December 26, 1811; Proved January 13, 1812
Provides for wife Barbara - Remaining to children: Viz. Catherina, Phillip, George, Adam, Susanna, Elizabeth and my Grandchild, Sara, Cathrina's daughter. Wife and son Adam Exec - Test Signed.
Witnessed by: Jacob Wickline, Henry Ludwig[15][16]
I was at the Chester County Archives this morning. Since there was no information, the lady suggested I look at Philadelphia County. She said that people often went there from northern Chester County. At that time, the county seat of Chester (not West Chester at that time) was a longer trip.
The Abstract of Philadelphia County Wills lists: Lodwick, Philip: Will dated: 20 June 1769: Will entered: 30 June 1769: Wife: Phillips (Did this mean her name wasn't listed or could it be something like Phillipsina?): Children: Adam (of Berks County?), Jacob (of Ludwig's Corner?) and Henry (of Berks County?): Witnesses: Adam Moses, John Wagoner and Jno. Teaney: Will Book "O", page 393: There is also a 1769 entry for John Philip Ludwig in Administration Book "H", page 64.
It appears that only the minor children were listed in the will, but there may be references to others in the estate material. We know of Mary Sybella, wife of Jacob Mueller. It is also probable that Elizabeth, who I believe married a Moses, was a daughter. Baltahsar, who married Sarah Miller (daughter of Conrad), and Valentine, who married Elisabeth Stein (daughter of Adam), were almost certainly sons. There may also have been a son named Morris. The Ludwig land was very close to that of John Wagoner.
Does anyone have an interest in this family?
Adam was born about 1754. He passed away in 1811.
