My Lumsden ancestor [Lumsden-410] likely came from Scotland to Virginia about 1745. I have evidence he may have been the son of Charles Lumsden youngest son of Thomas Lumsden of Lyne in Aberdeenshire. Archie Lumsden includes this Thomas Lumsden of Lyne in Lumsdens of the North, but much of the pedigree is uncertain and may go back to Matthew Lumsden of Tillycairn. Does anyone have information on this line and possible descendants either in America, Ireland, New Zealand or Australia. FamilyTreeDNA Lumsden Y-DNA Project shows our group-2 as separate from the main Lumsden line in Aberdeenshire.

Lumsden-419 and Lumsden-401 appear to represent the same person because: same dates, father indicated as Robert

This Thomas Lumsden (abt. 1475 - 1513) (Lumsden-36) can not be the son of Robert (Lumsden) Lumsden First of Cushnie (abt. 1475 - 1546) (Lumsden-38) as they were both born 1475. Either the dates or the relationship must be wrong.

Lumsden-401 and Lumsden-36 are not ready to be merged because: The Thomas Lumsden who was the father of Margaret Lumsden, VII Baron of Conland represented the end of the male line of Lumsden for this Estate. Margaret Lumsden married firstly William Johnston of that Ilk and had a son Gilbert Johnston. Both her husband William Johnston and her son, Gilbert Johnston were killed at the Battle of Flodden Field in 1513. Margaret married as her second husband William Forbes of Corsenden and had female issue. Her third husband was Robert Lundie or Lundin of Balgony, who therefore became "Jure uxoris" [by right of his wife] Baron of Conland.

There are several close Lumsden names, Robert, Thomas , James, recorded in this time period and requires more research, as well as time for comparison. I have a copy of "The Lumsdens of the North" compiled by the House of Lumsden Association Sennachie, Mr Archie Lumsden of Scotland, whose work is very well respected and always accurate.

Lumsden-419 and Lumsden-36 do not represent the same person because: They appear to be uncle and nephew
