St Stephens Parish, "Alexander Lunsford Son To Wm Born May 23, 1697" [1]
The first Parish in Northumberland County, Virginia was probably Chickacoan, centered around the river of that name now called Coan River. In 1664, the name was changed to Fairfield Parish, which later was incorporated with or became Saint Stephen's Parish. Several years ago, Mr. Beverly Fleet published as Volume III in his series "Virginia Colonial Abstracts," a book he took pains to designate as "Northumberland County Records of Births 1661-1810." [2]
