Charles "Charlie" was born in 1894, the son of Cas and Jenny Lunsford. He was the brother of Polly, Rosa, Lilly, Melvin, Laura, Sarah, and Emmer. He married Maudie Templeton on January 3, 1917.
Charlie was a farmer. According to his WW I Draft Registration in 1917, he and Maudie were farming in Clover Bottom, Jackson County, Kentucky. He is described as being a short man of medium build, with blue eyes and light hair, and he had trouble with rheumatism. By 1930, Charlie and Maudy had three children living with them -- Virgil, Hansford, and Rosela. Three children, Fairy, Lilly, and Jim, had died young.
Maudie died in 1933, shortly after the death of their youngest daughter, Opal. After the death of his wife, Charlie moved to neighboring Madison County, where he continued to farm with his son, Virgil. The 1940 US. Census shows him living in a rental home with the four children: Virgil, Hansford, Rosela, and Opal.
Charlie died in Versailles, Kentucky, in 1972.
