Biography

Thomas Lupton was born about 1605 in Keighley, Yorkshire, England, son of Christopher Lupton (1570 - 1613) and Isabel (Sowden) Lupton (~1568 - 1634).

His sister was Ellen (Lupton) Ogden (1598 - ).

Thomas married Elizabeth Gibson (1608 - 1688).

Thomas (~20) married Alice Headsley (~20) (~1605 - ) on 6 Sep 1625 in Trusthorpe, Lincolnshire, England. Their children were:

  1. Ellen Lupton (1624 - 1635)
  2. John Lupton (1627 - 1635)
  3. Christopher Lupton (1630 - 1686)
  4. Thomas Lupton (<1633 - ~1684)
  5. Jane Lupton (1633 - ).

Death

Despite a claim that Thomas died 21 Oct. 1644, "Thomas Lupton" was named along with other earliest proprietors of Branford who were named in town records from 7 July 1646 (dividing up the meadows)[1] However, a record from 16 September 1646 (constructing a 5-mile fence around the core part of the town)[2][3] listed "Christ: Lupton" instead of "Tho: Lupton"

Note that Thomas's son Thomas would then have been too young to be a proprietor.

These records are consistent with Thomas Lupton dying sometime between 7 7 July and 16 September 1646.

Just wanted to cite that I have Thomas Lupton's wife as Alice Headsley Lupton. No other information of her life is known at this time.
