Biography

John was born in 1845, [1] the second son of John Lutton and Letitia Gilmore. He was baptised on the 4th February 1846 in the parish of St Lawrence, Cumberland County, Sydney. [2]

According to his cousin Annie's daughter, John was a bachelor and travelled the world. [3]

In 1913 John was living with his brother William and sister-in-law Joanna in Newington Road Marrickville. His occupation was listed as Engineer. [4]

John passed away in 1920 and was interred at Rookwood Cemetery.

Research Notes

In August 2018 I was given a transcript of a letter written by Jessie Moir to a cousin about her memories of the Lutton Family from Newry, Northern Ireland. The information in this letter has enabled me to confirm my research. There are some areas where the facts have been a bit hazy but in most instances they have been correct. Jessie Moir was the eldest daughter of Alexander Lutton and Annie Lutton. Annie Lutton was the daughter of George Lutton and Flora McLeod.
